As a cooperation between Hedda Produktion AB and our local partners in Serbia and Kosovo the project of developing a play inspired by Seven but with stories from women on the Balkans was initiated. The project received funding from the Swedish Institute programme Creative Force and a initial meeting workshop was held at Ulcijn on the coast of Montenegro 26-29 September.
During the workshop, activists and play writes from Croatia, Bosnia, Serbia, Montenegro, Kosovo and Macedonia were present and will later be accompanied by representatives from Albania.
During the two-day workshop the conditions and difficulties for women in the region were discussed, both from a local, national as well as regional perspective. Some of the issues raised was the increased difficulties faced by women activists, issues related to gender based violence, sexual violence, lack of political representation and the fact that in all of the countries many of the laws are in place, however, they are not enforced.
A final version of the new play is planned to be presented in the beginning of 2016 and several workshops will be held in the region in 2015.
